Who are NoiseFan?


NoiseFan is a Mexican/Scottish post-britpop rock duo, based in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. The project began in 2012 and comprises two members: Carlos Soler(Mexico) and Simon Jarvis (Scotland). The group’s sound is characterised by its simplicity and melodic strength generated by electric and acoustic rock instruments, combined with intelligent lyrics that create deep and meaningful songs. NoiseFan has two recordings; “Electric Brae” a full length album launched in October 2013, and an EP, “Taking Flight” which was launched in July 2015.



Simon Jarvis (voice, drums and guitar)

Simon Jarvis is from Glasgow, Scotland, and former drummer with Travis in the days when they were known as GlassOnion. His Hispanic Studies degree took him to Mexico in 1993 to study at the University of Guanajuato where he met his wife, Sandra. He returned to Scotland to finish his studies and in 2009 settled once more in Mexico, this time in the city of Leon. He met Carlos Soler in 2010 and later NoiseFan was formed. Amongst Simon´s influences are The Cure, Nick Drake, Neil Young, The Smiths, Arcade Fire, Cat Power and Patti Smith.

Charly Soler (bass and guitars)

Carlos Soler is from Mexico City. He moved to Leon in the state of Guanajuato in 1986 with his family, and completed his university studies before concentrating on music. He collaborated in various local musical projects and played in covers bands before forming NoiseFan together with Simon Jarvis. Charly counts Caifanes, Café Tacuba, Soda Stereo, Gustavo Cerati, Nirvana, Poison, Bon Jovi, Metallica and Skid Row amongst his influences. He is principally self-taught and has taken some courses in guitar and bass in the city of León.
